Whenever I rave to someone about one of my favorite alternative healing therapies, Vibrosaun, at my local stomping ground, Kure Spa, “Vibra-what?” is usually what comes out of people’s mouths next. Women and men alike are slightly intrigued and slightly skeptical when I tell them I get into a horizontal, vibrating sauna that looks like a tanning bed, for 30-45 minutes, and sweat!

Why, pray tell, would I want to do such a thing? My question back, is, ummmm…why wouldn’t I?!

I have spent the better part of 20 years sitting at a computer and more recently alternating between standing and sitting, at a stand up desk for 8-12 hours a day, which is kind of, how do you say, less than ideal for the body, particularly the neck and back. We are not meant to be stationary staring at screens for big chunks of time! It’s unnatural!

Exercise and rebounding, along with yoga, meditation, journaling, and prayer have been instrumental to me in finding relief and reconnection at home, reducing my stress, and bringing my mind, body, and spirit back into balance, but I have also assembled an amazing team of wellness practitioners and healing centers I go to regularly for massage, chiropractic, PEMF, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, craniosacral therapy, Reiki, reflexology, detox foot baths, colon hydrotherapy. far infrared saunas, photon light therapy and of course, Vibrosaun!

I have had intense and fairly relentless neck & back pain, fibromyalgia, TMJ, muscle and joint stiffness, and inflexibility, for the past 25 years. I’m quite sure my Type A, perfectionistic, hard-driving personality, and *mostly past* need to control everything, combined with everyday stress and the 24/7 culture we’ve set up for ourselves, does not at all contribute in any way at all to this chronic pain.

I have come to look at this dis-ease and discomfort as a gift, as it is my body’s way of begging me to listen to it by telling me that things are amiss and to do something(s) differently, which has put me on a personal quest for self-healing that has led to quite an array of holistic, integrative modalities that I have come to rely on, so I can be, as I put it, “functional in society”. The jury is still out on whether that is the case, depending on who you talk to.

I also have a long history of not sweating much, so Vibrosaun and far infrared saunas are the only places I can go where sweat actually rolls off my body. I seriously have run 5K’s in June and not had a drop of wetness on my body.  NOT good! The toxins need to get out, and despite my mostly clean living, healthy lifestyle, we are all toxic.  This is hands-down one of the best therapies for the lymphatic system and is a must-include for anyone’s detox regime!
